From 3D to Print - Part 1: Tool Chain

I'd like to preface this by saying: Two posts in one day! Wooo! There now that we have that out of the way...

Earlier today I had mentioned that I was going to be providing a crash course in 3D modelling for later use in 3D printing. There are some gotcha's that you are going to have to look out for. This is not an all in one Turn Key solution. So we want to pay close attention to our steps and make an effort not to have to revisit them along the way.

3D Printing. The future of miniature gaming?

Quite some time ago my friend Adam Elkins introduced me to the world of 3D printing. I found the concept fascinating, and the idea of printers that can self-replicate is interesting as well.

December and a smushed thumb...

So it's already December and I haven't even begun to post anything as interesting as I would like to yet on this blog. I was actually planning on helping my Daughter Nevaeh and my son Vincent paint up some of their miniatures today. Unfortunately fate had other plans in store for me.

Hanging on to the past

I made an interesting discovery recently in regards to the way people sometimes overlay previous rules over the top of new rules. I say it is interesting simply because we as humans dislike change in general. From what I can tell, people don't even realize they are doing it. Now this post isn't about the psychology behind why someone would subconsciously reject change, but instead a way to bring a couple of issues I have noticed to the community, and possibly a means to beg for your interpretation of those rules and the way you think they should work.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Just a simple post wishing the Warhammer 40K blogosphere a happy Thanksgiving or Tanks-giving if you're playing 40K today! I will be taking a break from miniatures and such to spend time with my family today, and hopefully not over stuff myself. Gobble Gobble!

What's in a name?

So I recently started a new Chaos Space Marine army. At first I had done a ton of research to decide what legion/warband of Space Marines with spikey bits to would best represent me on the battlefield. I toyed with the idea of using Alpha Legion (aka Closet Imperial Loyalists who want to free the Emperor from his tortured existence as a living corpse). I also really liked the Word Bearers. In the end though, I decided to go with the Word Bearers. Lorgar was the first to fall, and as such, he was super cool.

Getting set up

So I decided to start a blog primarily about a hobby that I just recently came back to: Warhammer 40K.

Just a bit of background, I started playing this around 2nd and 3rd edition. It's hard to remember exactly, I know the years but haven't been able to sort the specifics. I remember playing in '98 through '02. Back then I was playing Dark Angels. I still love the lore behind them. My brother Ricky was playing Chaos Space Marines. I remember at the time the codex for Dark Angels was much better than the one for his Chaos Space Marines. His was confusing and generally didn't have much to it.
